Volunteers with the Pennies For Pediatrics campaign at Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord got their fill of empties over the past two weekends at five outlets of The Beer Store in Greater Sudbury area. With the help of employees of The Beer Store, a bottle drive raised approximately $7,500 on behalf of the campaign.

Pennies For Pediatrics is a fundraising campaign of the HSN Volunteer Association, in cooperation with HSN Volunteer Services. The goal of the campaign is to raise

$100,000.00 for children’s services at Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord.

Proceeds from the campaign will be used to convert HSN’s existing therapy pool into a Snoezelen Pool, which uses special sound and lighting for the treatment of children with development conditions, such as autism.

We are just delighted that The Beer Store was willing to support our campaign by allowing us to collect empties on what must have been two of the busiest weekends of the year,” says Cliff Richardson, President of HSN Volunteer Association. “The money we raised will help our campaign tremendously. I want to thank everyone at The Beer Store for their support, especially The Beer Store employee Charmaine Marshall, who spearheaded this drive on our behalf.”

People returning empy bottles and cans to the Chelmsford, Hanmer, Lasalle, Paris, and Nortre Dame outlets of the The Beer Store were invited to donate all or some of the proceeds or make a cash donation to the Pennies For Pediatrics campaign.

Approximately 50 people volunteered their time to take part in The Beer Store bottle drive.

I want to thank all the volunteers that donated their precious time to the Pennies For Pediatrics fundraising campaign of Health Sciences North Volunteer Association and Volunteer Services during the busy holidays,” says Francoise Roussel, co-ordinator for Volunteer Services. “Please accept these words of thank you as an acknowledgement that I appreciated your time for the sole purpose of helping your community hospital.”
