Geared towards kids aged 3 to 6, Monkey See, Monkey Do features an animated monkey who encourages real kids to engage in physical activities while learning about science. Designed to offer children a more participatory experience, the children’s series encourages kids to be active and lead healthy lifestyles while they are learning.
TVO and its project partners - Title Entertainment Inc., Smartoonz Inc., and Monkey See Monkey Do Productions Inc. - received $701,276 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation last year which allowed for the production in Sudbury.
Nineteen crew members were employed over the course of the 80-week production, of which eight were students from Cambrian College. Prior to production, the students participated in an intensive 6-week training program and assumed producing, animating, and editing roles during production.
In Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey and his animal friends teach kids problem solving skills through movement and imitation, teaching kids how to learn through doing; Monkey finds himself learning how to float with Alligator, practicing his basketball jumps with Dolphin, and catching a gliding lesson with Bald Eagle.
The series has 26 11-minute episodes air Tuesdays at 11:30 am and repeat Thursdays at 11:30 am and Sundays at 6:30 am and are available on tvokids.com.
