Burger Wars will be held during the entire month of August with 33 participating local restaurants. One dollar from each chosen burger sold will be donated to NEO Kids Foundation.
The community is encouraged to try as many chosen restaurant burgers as possible then vote online on our website www.sudburyburgerwars.com .
According to Mitch Speigel, event organizing committee member, “my daughter and her family live in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, it’s a beautiful town which we visit often. On one recent visit, we arrived in the middle of a ‘war’, a ‘Burger War’. Every restaurant, and there are many, had a poster and tent cards advertising their special burger. For every one of these burgers sold, a dollar would be going to a local children’s charity. What fun! I even tried a sweet-and-sour burger at the Chinese restaurant. Apparently, the idea was borrowed from PEI and I thought to myself, why not reborrow the concept for Sudbury. I had to find a doer and made the lucky choice of Jana Schilkie. The rest is history and our own home-grown Burger Wars month begins August 1. Enjoy and vote carefully.”
